This is PALAU! A small island country in the Pacific with so many stunning landscapes both above and below the sea! #wannabediver #palau #scubadiving #scuba #mylifesatravelmovie #girlsthatscuba #padi #littlemermaid #bluecorner #bluecornerpalau #solotravel #solofemaletravel #solofemaletraveler Oh also, this is Blue Corner in Palau, ranked number 3 dive site in the world by PADI! It is supposed to be a “drift dive” where you use a hook to latch in place bc the current is so strong, and the animals are supposed to just drift past you like the turtle…but there was somehow no current the day I went □ Distract yourself with a cute dive master □ No wonder I was able to do 3 dives in Palau!! When I’m filming my mind focuses on the shot and forgets that I think I can’t breathe. Idk why but this helps and I always do it Deep breaths and make an ohm-ish sound on the exhale. My tips for preventing and overcoming anxiety: My anxiety partially comes from my PTSD cenote diving accident, but also due to my highly active brain, which thinks of everything possible that could go wrong (meditation does not work for me lol) People who don’t like the idea of it at all and don’t even why to attempt it (I don’t blame you)Īlso, I had to develop techniques to not get anxious underwater. People who slightly fear it but will go anyway if there’s something cool (me)ģ. People who love diving (nudibranch enthusiasts)Ģ. My anxiety/fear is usually the opposite of others since I fear things like “forgetting how to breathe” over things like sharks □ I also highly prefer to free dive, which most divers say they do not, so I’m just opposite all around haha!īut! I feel like there are three types of people:ġ. Then I read that it has one of the top dive sites in the world and it has tons of sharks, and I was like “sign me up!!!” □ I wanted to do the flight, boat, and snorkel/free dive. I actually didn’t go to Palau to scuba dive like most people do. Also truth: I don’t love anxiety and I refuse to let it stop me from doing cool things. Truth: I don’t love scuba diving bc it gives me anxiety. And yes, in this case, you definitely should look down! The view from the observation deck at SkyspaceĪdmission for the Skyslide is only $8, but it goes by quickly for how long the line for it was, so make sure your GoPro is on and ready, or that you grab the card for your professional photo at the end! Watch the Video: The actual sliding part only lasts for about four seconds, but gives you a pretty cool view if you remember to look down. Bank Building, where there’s also a new private event space, and wraps around the outside of the building down to the 69th floor, where you land on a giant cushion. #winning Me going down the glass slide, in the video you can hear me say, “Weeeeee”Īnyway, the glass slide starts on the 70th floor of the U.S. But, New York doesn’t have a cool skyscraper slide, and Cali does. It reminds me of the Top of the Rock observation deck in New York City, which also has glass-only walls and makes you feel like you’re about to fall off the top of a building…in the coolest way possible. The glass slide, appropriately named Skyslide, is a part of the new attraction, OUE Skyspace, which is the highest open-air observation deck in California. I actually heard about it because someone posted a preview video of the daredevil slide on Facebook and tagged me in the caption saying, “I wonder if Alyssa Ramos would do this?” Needless to say, I immediately made it a priority to go see, even though I was leaving on a red-eye flight the night of the grand opening.ĭoes the thought of sliding down an all-glass slide at the top of a skyscraper sound scary to you? Don’t worry, most of the people waiting in line for the grand opening last Saturday were pretty much freaking out before they went down, and laughing hysterically once they landed. Yes, it’s true, there is a glass slide at the top of a skyscraper in Downtown LA, and it’s on the outside of the building, 1,000 feet up.
